Few resources are available and the ones that are available require a tremendous investment of time and money for you to make it through all the hoops successfully.

1  GET CLEAN ENERGY

Join Co-op Power and secure your access to affordable renewable energy today.  Co-op Power members are working together to do all the research.  So, you’ll be joining a group of people who are committed to becoming more energy self sufficient, reducing our energy costs and reducing the impact energy use has on the environment.  We are pooling our resources to get quality, low-cost, sustainable energy resources through bulk purchasing. We also have an on-line community to share information and provide a library of resources to help you make well-reasoned investments in conservation and energy alternatives.  Our community includes experts in alternative and sustainable energy systems including professionals in biodiesel fuel, wind power, biomass, cogeneration systems and solar energy. Together, we will help each other make the transition to more sustainable energy options. We’ll save time and money and get products and services we can depend on.

2  SHARE THE PROFITS

As Co-op Power grows, you’ll share in the profits.  Co-op Power is a cooperative, owned and controlled by its consumer members (you and me).  As a member you have a voice in setting key policies including how profits are distributed. There won’t be profits to share in the first few start-up years, but, starting in 2009, the plan is for each member to receive 25 cents in patronage dividends, rebates, or discounts for every dollar we spend through Co-op Power.

3  BUILD SUSTAINABLE ENERGY RESOURCES

Co-op Power is the only vehicle every day people have for building sustainable energy resources in our region. Co-op Power is a network of people ready to make a difference . . . for our children and our children’s children.

Once there are 200 members in a region – Co-op Power will help organize a Sustainable Energy Council either within an existing organization, or as an ad hoc group. The Sustainable Energy Council will provide technical assistance and development dollars so members can come together to decide WIMBY – Where in my backyard. Where are we going to site our sustainable energy resources? How can we decrease the amount of energy we’re using? Where can we build wind, solar, alternative fuel plants, biomass, etc.?

THE FINE PRINT

The membership share entitles you to enjoy the benefits of membership described on this page, including access to biodiesel and other clean energy, member discounts and rebates on energy products and services, a share in the profits, access to trustworthy information, and a vehicle for developing new community-owned energy resources. Purchasing a membership share in Co-op Power is not an investment promising a return. The share will not increase in value and cannot be transferred or sold. If Co-op Power loses money, you could lose all or some of your equity share. If it makes money, you’ll get a share of the profits and increased benefits. The Board of Co-op Power believes the business plan is strong and the business will be profitable.
