How Member to Member Installations work

• Call us up or stop by our office to schedule a site visit so our professional solar hot water installer can determine ifyour home or business has suitable sunlight for a solar hot water system.

• A proposal will be sent to you that will outline costs.

• A weekend date will be set for our professional installer and a group of Co-op Power members to install your system.

• Either before or after your installation you help 4 other fellow-members install their own system.

Rebates and Financing

Co-op Power will help you maximize your rebates. The federal government will pay for 30% of your solar hot water system. The state of Massachusetts will pay for 15% of your system up to $1000. (Call us or visit www.dsireusa.org to find out what your state incentive is.)

Massachusetts residents also have access to 0% interest MassSAVE loans. This means that with a MassSAVE loan you might be able to immediately start saving money if your hot water bill works out to be more than your monthly payment! In order to become eligible for a MassSAVE loan you need to call them at 1-866-527-7283 and schedule an energy audit.

Site Visit Fee Change - Schedule your site visit now before the fees go up!

Until the end of July 2009 the site visit fee will be $50 for both members and non-members. Starting in August the site visit fee will be as follows:

Full Members: $75.  Co-op Power will give you $25 back when you complete your solar hot water installation.

Non-members and affiliate members. $100.  Co-op Power will give you $25 back when you complete your solar hot water installation. Also, Co-op Power will donate another $25 towards your full-membership.

How quickly will my system pay for itself?

Depending on the site and your hot water costs, the system can pay for itself in 3-7 years.

I can't go on a roof, will I be helpful at an installation?

We get lots of folks who either don't feel they are handy enough or don't want to be on a roof. This is not a problem! There are always jobs to do that do not require prior experience. The "roof team" is just one of three teams that work on the installation. There is also a basement team and a piping team. Each of the teams require a varying degree of technical skill.

I don't want to do a member to member installation, can Co-op Power still install a solar hot water system for me?

Yes we can! You will still reap significant savings because all Co-op Power members receive a 20% discount on equipment.

What is it like at a member to member installation?

The installations are lots of fun. You get to meet great people, share good food, and learn how to install a solar hot water system.
